DeepSeek publishes model weights under the MIT License; its DeepSeek-R1 repository lists a 128K context length for DeepSeek-R1. DeepSeek's API guide says the chat API is stateless: the server does not record the context of a user's requests, so the application must send the whole conversation history with every request. That makes the memory question plain: with DeepSeek, continuity is whatever your own application keeps and sends.
